Some seats are typically blocked until T-24. I think it depends on the specific carrier which seats are blocked, but typically four seats in rows 1 & 2 are blocked as well as a full row in the back (row 6 or 7 maybe). So even though no seats are showing as available there may be as many as eight seats that will be available at T-24. You can check expertflyer to see specifically which seats are blocked on the flights you are interested in.
