In my personal experience, some taxis in Nice are in a class of their own in France, with respect to doing exactly what pleases them and nothing else. No problem taking cash from customers going to Cannes or Monte-Carlo, or charging EUR 20 to go to a hotel located a few hundred meters away, at the farther end of the airport, though .
