Yes it's edinburgh, I used to mostly fly from Aberdeen and could just pick pretty much any seat. Perhaps it is an Edinburgh thing as you say.

I usually fly to Gatwick and hardly ever fly to heathrow from Edinburgh.

Still confused about it stuffing me in the centre seat though.
