I have no difficulty renting in the US. Every major company describes the approximate size of different cars. If I have a question I just check the dimensions of the trunk space online. I could not use a scooter if I required help getting it in and out of the car. I do that myself, and would not expect any one at the rental agency to help. If you need assistance how would you manage once you left the rental agency?

Renting in Europe was a bit more problematic. We spoke directly with the car rental facility. When we arrived we had to actually check the trunk space (we travel with two mobility scooters) to make sure that they fit. We purchased our scooters so we could travel with them. They come apart into five individual pieces. Nothing weighs more than 28 lbs, and I can put it together in 5 minutes.

Most of the shuttle vans we have used have been accessible in the US. In Europe we did have to take our scooters apart on a couple of occasions.
