The following is a email I sent to AA.
What is your thought?
I flew this morning from DFW-BWI in seat 6e. When I boarded I noticed the passenger next to me had placed his bag under the seat in front if mine. I asked if he could move under the seat in front of him. He said NO! I don't want to give up all my leg room! Put your bag in the overhead compartment. As a side note all I had was my laptop bag. I said that my space. He called the flight attendant over and asked her to find space in the overhead. I told the FA I wanted to keep in down in front of me. She said since the spot was "between the two seats it wasn't my space and I needed to put my bag up". Now we were on a 738 which has two large spots for bags and one real skinny spot on the aisle side which can't fit much at all. She explained that skinny spot was mine and the two large ones are whoever gets they first. She said after take off I could bring it down. I explained I still wouldn't have a place to put it!!
I think that is absolutely ridiculous. Both passengers deserve one of the large spots for your bag. I was embarrassed by the exchange and didn't want to make a fuss so I put my bag up.
I want to know if she is right and acted correctly.
