I hadn't realised that hangouts and voice were different things. just tried making my first call and it worked. many thanks!!
but i wonder if you have experience using a google voice number on an international mobile. i put in my local (not voip american) number. Does it matter? is it possible to be connected to my Voice number through hangouts?
