Good review - I've stayed here before and enjoyed it - especially the location though the parking is quirky - as noted. Lots of good bars and restaurants in easy walking distance - out of towners shouldn't let the initial look of the area scare them away, there are some real gems around, including Bull City brewery, Danes, pops Italian, Satisfaction, and a highly rated French place I've not yet tried.

- Whiskey: A bar with 330 different bottles of whiskey (the most in NC) and an upstairs cigar smoking room
- West End Wine Bar: Excellent wine menu, plenty of good food too
- Salt Box and Fishmonger's: Great shrimp shack type seafood
Downtown Durham has come a very long way ^
