One of the issues we face for group travel sometimes is having a travelers with wide varieties of economic means. A week in Palm Beach, for example, would be a non-starter for some. This destination might be a happy compromise!
You and I have been to a lot of the same places and have kids roughly the same age. Your family would love a trip along 30a I can assure you. The new urbanism communities down there are really special. They may not technically be five star like Hualalai or something similar, but they are wonderful family destinations. I would actually recommend renting a house with the family and getting bikes to get around the area.
