This is the same for all carriers in Star Alliance when using Star Alliance Upgrade Awards.

If you like flying LH or US better than SK then you could always use EB points for getting awards on other carriers. Just beware of the fuel surcharges on those carriers (at least LH). Remember that SK does not charge fuel surcharges on awards on their own metal.
