Exclamation advice from TUG

Gaucho100K, the best info on these 2 properties is on TUG, not flytertalk! I have cut and pasted the two most recent reviews (below). Overall, SVR has a better average rating (8.16/10) than SVV (8.09). I can add that the Sheraton Vistana Resort has much bigger suites than SVV and is closer to Disney!

Sheraton Vistana Resort (July 2013)
We traded into here through RCI. We arrived before the official check in time but our room was ready. This is a huge resort. There are units that are two stories as well as some with more floors. We were in a two story in the Falls area, building 17 and very thankful that we were on the first floor since there is not an elevator. The unit had 2 bedrooms with a full kitchen. There are swimming pools located in different areas of the resort but depending upon where you were staying it could be quite a long way to walk and there is no parking near the pools.

Upon entering the condo you will step into the dining area with the kitchen to your right and the living area just past the dining table. The kitchen was quite large and had a very nice u-shaped counter area. It was furnished with dishes for 8 people. The pans were limited but it worked for the two of us. They did not provide anything with which to hand wash any dishes such as a dish cloth or a sponge. We used a face cloth from the bathroom. I called to try to get one but never did. There was also not a cutting board but they did bring one of those. There was a large window over the sink area which helped with lighting during the day. There was no light in that area for when it was dark. There was a flat top stove with oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, and full size refrigerator. There also was a bar/counter with two bar chairs.

The dining area had a nice round wood table with 6 chairs. The living area had a couch, 2 chairs and a desk and chair. There was a coffee table and 2 end tables. Each end table had a lamp on it. Sliding glass doors led to a screened in porch area that had a table and chairs. There was also a large flat screened TV. There were two pictures on the wall and the furnishings were rust and olive greens. It is an older unit but has been well kept. There was complimentary internet.

The two bedrooms were located beside the main area and were separated by 2 bathrooms. The master had a king bed with 2 night tables and lamps. There was a TV and a closet. There were also sliding doors to the patio from the master bedroom. The 2nd bedroom had two twin beds.

We were staying in Orlando to spend a couple of days at Disney and to work as volunteers at the Disney Marathon. We did not use any of the amenities at the resort. There was a large store with many items but it was very high priced. We went to their sales presentation which was much longer than 90 minutes and much more high-pressured than is acceptable.

Sheraton Vistana Villages (April 2013)
I have been an owner at Vistana Villages since 2001, when the resort first got started, and every year I have had a great experience. This vacation was no different! We decided to call at the 8 month mark in order to request a newer unit in the St. Augustine phase, instead of in Bella or Key West where we own. We received VIP Owner check-in, and Dolly, a receptionist who we have dealt with for many years, greeted us and fulfilled all of our room requests. As asked for, we received a room on a high floor (5th) in building 25 of the St. Augustine phase. The unit was brand new (opened in January according to Dolly) and was in excellent condition. It was well decorated, bright, and had an open floor plan with all of the things you need, including a fully-stocked kitchen, 2 large bathrooms, 2 spacious bedrooms, and a great living area that led out to the screened-in balcony overlooking the pool. The beautiful pool was an extremely short walk from our villa, and it included a pirate ship and large water slide for kids, along with a great pool bar and poolside shop. Close by was the resort’s market, The Villages Marketplace, which was recently re-opened in building 25 and it is beautiful! It is well stocked with a good selection, including drinks, snacks, sundries, and even an ice cream and sandwich bar. Other amenities around the resort include 3 other pools, a full service restaurant, and several recreation centers including arcades and fitness centers. To add to the already great selection of amenities, a new fitness center and a lounge called “The Link @ Sheraton” are both opening on May 1st on the ground floor of building 25. Each day, the resort’s “F.U.N. Team” held a wealth of activities including things for kids and adults, such as wine tastings, karaoke, and movie nights. Throughout our whole trip, the staff was extremely pleasant and friendly. We attended the “Owner’s Update,” and because of our huge list of questions, we spent an hour and a half casually discussing the resort and Starwood as a whole, and our thoughts about our ownership etc. One thing about the meeting that was a bit upsetting was the huge reduction in breakfast offerings. For ten years, we came and enjoyed a nice breakfast featuring fresh fruit, donuts, and an array of freshly baked pastries. Our only options this visit were some old packaged pastries, a few yogurts, and some coffee and bottled juice. Not a good way to start off, especially when we are supposed to be encouraged to buy more weeks! Beyond the meeting, the resort itself is in a perfect location, extremely close to tons of restaurants, theme parks, and an array of other attractions. As always, the grounds were immaculate and maintenance workers can often be seen working to keep the resort in such great condition. Overall, our stay was absolutely fantastic and I can’t wait to visit Sheraton Vistana Villages again!
