Qos = quality of service. Not mandatory, but helpful if you have several devices pulling bandwidth. Qos is a setting within router operating systems (most modern routers have it) which allows you to set the priority of data flow across the network. Essentially, you can "tell" the router to give priority to VoIP calls first, pc's second, and gaming devices third. If your home is not full of bandwidth intensive devices, you can skip this. For me, again, I stream everything and the phone must be set as priority within qos to ensure a consistently solid connection.

Keep in mind. Google voice is free today, this can change...
