Based on this uncertainty, I will probably requalify for 2015 Silver on UA (as a Gold, with trips to BAH/KWI and SJU already booked, I'm about halfway to Silver PQD spend before winter is out). Then, come November of 2014, I might or might not status match to MVPGold, partly depending on the AA/US situation.
Thanks, everyone, for your insight. While the nuts and bolts do matter, I'm also influenced by the way most AS frequent flyers seem to be pretty happy with Mileage Plan.
You're right - the AA/US merger is the elephant in the room. I think there are more HVFs from UA that would jump to AA but they are unsure of what the merger brings. AS is well respected and they have a good program....I'm waiting to see what happens with the AA/US merger before deciding my "way ahead". I'm extremely displeased with UA
