Well, US is the elephant inside the Beltway these days... I suppose a jump to AS looks a lot more attractive with the US route network added via merger with AA. Of course, that brings with it the possibility of more industry changes.
Based on this uncertainty, I will probably requalify for 2015 Silver on UA (as a Gold, with trips to BAH/KWI and SJU already booked, I'm about halfway to Silver PQD spend before winter is out). Then, come November of 2014, I might or might not status match to MVPGold, partly depending on the AA/US situation.
Thanks, everyone, for your insight. While the nuts and bolts do matter, I'm also influenced by the way most AS frequent flyers seem to be pretty happy with Mileage Plan.
