Wow - bad news! For me this a great location, near my corporate office and the airport. I got word of this last week and am staying here now. I stay here several times a month when I have early flights and to avoid afternoon and evening traffic on the freeways. Over the years I have come to know many of the staff members and other Diamond guests who frequent the property.

I agree with Big Guy and 777. I can't seem them remaining indie for long. They must know something or have a deal in place for future rebranding when another area property makes a change. Most of the staff had no idea this was going to happen until it appeared in print and a frequent guest showed it to them!

I was told that The Irvine Company bought out the final 12 years of the Hyatt contract. That makes me think that something happened to trigger this. Who buys out a long term contract for a facility that is currently profitable unless they have another deal in the works? The business they get from business travelers, airlines, conventions, groups and weddings is pretty good. I don't know their occupency rate but it appears to be decent. It will be interesting since TIC usually hold onto their buildings and real estate. As said before they have experience operating high end brands but this location does not lend itself to that. I'm guessing they will put alot of money into a renovation while operating it as an indie and have it ready for a new brand whenever that contract kicks in.

This is probably wishful thinking but does anyone know of properties that left Hyatt and then returned?
