Wouldn't cut it since giving false information on a stat dec is punishable full stop end of story. However I have just asked a lawyer friend of mine, so we'll see what she says.

However if you want to risk a couple of years jail and / or a massive fine to save on a couple of hundred dollar fine, go right ahead.
