My experience is the same as yours. I flew down here to Australia last weekend. On the LHR-DXB leg in Y I had no acknowledgement other than being handed a FastTrack card shortly before landing. Even then, no words.
On both J legs, DXB-SIN and SIN-MEL (crew changed in SIN), I was sought out by both pursers and various cabin crew, including getting a "we think it important to acknowledge our high value customers" speech.
Seemingly, as with all things aviation, it is down to the crew.
