Last week I used some of my FF miles to purchase a reward flight to KL. BHX-DXB-KUL saver return, in economy.
After qualifying again for 'Gold' status in June, following eighteen months on 'Silver', I was expecting little in terms of customer service. Two years ago, in my experience, it was a rarity for any of the flight attendants to acknowledge a 'gold' status passenger in economy.
However, I was pleasantly surprised how improved Emirates customer service has become. On all the 'legs' last week I was greeted by at least one flight attendant. On two of the 'legs' the purser also greeted 'Golds' on board. Further 'visits' by flight attendants during each of the flights to ensure that I was happy with the service. Priority drinks, Champagne and a photo on the BHX-DXB leg; upgrade on KUL-DXB leg.
Emirates appear to have 'upped their game' in terms of customer service towards it's Gold status frequent flyers..
Long may it continue.
Glad you had a positive experience as a EK Gold FF Flyer. I have been EK Gold for a few years now and cannot confirm the 'improved' customer experience. In my experience it has been a bit 'hit and miss' for a while and it still is. I have just done six sectors on EK between Australia, DXB and Europe over the last two weeks; four sectors in Economy and two sectors in Business. I have been greeted on only one Economy sector by the purser and given preference on meals. My experience is that the EK Goldexperience and service consistency are better in Business class.
