Unfortunately, I tried those with my dates and can't seem to get a direct SIN-PEK (Feb 2, since PEK-ZRH is on Feb 3 0645) and PEK-SIN (Jan 25, since ZRH-PEK arrives 0515) flight. SIN-PEK will go through HKG and PEK-SIN will go through ICN. And that will have me exceed the 10 segments, not considering MPM
I never thought about using PEK. What other hubs should I be trying?
The 10 segment rule is no longer in force. I ticketed one recently with 13 segments.
You're within MPM on the itinerary through BOM. I'd suggest looking ZRH-DEL-SIN as the latter has J open as opposed to BOM which uses a 77W.
Personal preference - I'd cough up some extra cash for bonafide J products (such as OS, NH or OZ) than take UA, or be more flexible on my travel dates.
1/24 I see seats on CA from FRA-PEK. I also see PEK-LAX on CA 2/3. I'd work those in there rather than fly on UA J or route through India.
