As the OP is AA Gold, only until the end of the year I think (the promotional preferred / MCE seats period, after that it'll be Plat / EXP / OWS / OWE)

OK. (I'm not able to see the OP's profile with AA status from my BlackBerry.) But since the OP is planning to travel "next month," there should be no problem selecting better seats, even as a lowly "Gold."
