If you can get $900 worth of air travel for 30,000 Avios + $10 in fees, that is a good deal.

If you have status with AA, you can add your AAdvantage number to the Avios booking after the fact, and then select preferred seats free of charge. Otherwise, you'll be limited to whatever "free" seats AA offers on the seat map.
