My tier point collection year ends on 9th November. I’m travelling on a business trip 11th-15th November and the TPs from that trip would have got me to Gold.
I drop a line to BA Executive Club asking for a short extension, having read on here that two week extensions can be granted. Get a reply back saying this has been noted at the Service Centre, so the TPs can be attributed to this TP year and I’ll get Gold.
A day or so later, I get an automated email telling me I’m now Gold. Hurrah! They decided to lift me to Gold ahead of time. Turns out that when they got my request, they decided to do this as they could see my travel arrangements, and doing it this way means I’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of Gold for the trip itself.
Isn’t that nice?
Funny thing is, I won’t get most of the benefits: I’m flying to New York – pretty normal for my travels. But this time, for a change from my normal LHR-JFK-LHR routine, I’m flying out on the CWLCY service (so no First lounge, no upgrade possibilities), and back from Newark so I can try the 787 (again, no First lounge, no upgrade possibility).
It did briefly cross my mind that perhaps I should re-arrange to eek more benefits out of my trip with Gold status, but I’ve not tried CWLCY before, nor been on the 787. Would you do the same?
