The return is easy - LX J PEK-ZRH has availability Feb 1. I also see CA J/SQ J from PEK-SIN to connect to that flight.

In the alternate, I also see plenty of LX J availability from HKG and PVG, where you can use SQ to connect from SIN.

So you can do something like this scamcharge free:

YYZ-IAD UA J
IAD-LHR UA Y (can't see UA J from any east coast city to LHR)
LHR-ZRH LX J
ZRH-PEK LX J
PEK-SIN SQ J

SIN-PEK SQ J
PEK-ZRH LX J
ZRH-BOS LX J (can't see ZRH-YUL Feb 1/2)
BOS-YYZ UA J

Something like the above would be worth the extra 50K.
Wow. Thank you so much!

Unfortunately, I tried those with my dates and can't seem to get a direct SIN-PEK (Feb 2, since PEK-ZRH is on Feb 3 0645) and PEK-SIN (Jan 25, since ZRH-PEK arrives 0515) flight. SIN-PEK will go through HKG and PEK-SIN will go through ICN. And that will have me exceed the 10 segments, not considering MPM

I never thought about using PEK. What other hubs should I be trying?

Personally, I hate YQ as well, but I'd still look for Mini-RTW in J for 125K + YQ before it becomes 150K + YQ in 2014. Given that you have enough Aeroplan/AMEX MR of course
J is an experience you won't easily experience

Obviously look for YQ-free J like LX YUL-ZRH, and TK ex-ORD/JFK etc..
or even, look for Award-booking service to do it for you (usually $100/person)

start with TPAC or TATL long-haul J flight availabilities first, and work backwards to fit in the positioning/short-haul flights (Y or J)
Yes, I am doing mini-RTW with 75K. I am not giving up just yet! Will continue trying to find something workable as there's over 40 hours of actual flight time.
