This happened to me a few weeks ago at SYD.

My wife was w/l for business on 840.

Stupidly I did the OLCI for her at T-24.

We got to the checkin desk at round T - 3 and while checking, in I noticed on my phone, R seat availabilty .I asked the agent could she snag it but she couldn't. Instead she suggested that she uncheck my wife and I could go and ring 1K line and snap up the R seat.

This I did and my wife joined me in business.
