Perfectly said. Delta left our luggage at LAX en route to SYD (and eventually ADL) in November 2011, so the wife and I went shopping when we landed and added a couple of nice options to our wardrobes. Bags arrived the following day, delayed approx. 30 hours. I can't remember what the reimbursement limits were, but I think we each wound up getting between $100 and $125 back without any fuss whatsover.

OP, do you still have receipts from any clothing/toiletry purchases? You should definitely be able to get reimbursed for those essential items.

I assume that the reimbursements are per day? I've (fortunately) never experienced a multiple-day luggage delay, so I'm just curious...
