From my days working for QF, when checking in CX flights, the overwhelimingly vast majority of passengers I was checking in at SYD and MEL were continuing on from HKG to onward destinations, and this is why CX (and SQ, TG, MH, etc) are able to justify more flights ex-Australia than QF is able to manage. Quite basic stuff really.

But again, this is getting way off topic.

And thanks for the good words about the fires, fortunately, we did not get the extreme temperatures yesterday, nor the very low humidity, both of which helped. The rainfall on Tuesday night would have caused catastrophic conditions if the forecast weather had eventuated yesterday, but luckily, we managed to dodge a bullet there, and cool conditions today might help us to keep it under control (luckily, I am off today and tomorrow).

Cheers,

Dave
Going OT - good luck with the weather. I saw CNN that even with the rain it might not be all ok as it will ruin the Backburn efforts. Anyway hope this nightmare will be over for u all!
