I've been getting the pink tags, and have noticed that every time I ask for them, the GA has to go look for them, and finds them in a drawer or in their pockets somewhere, but it's always a "where are those?" moment, as if the frequency for needing the tags is very low.
And I've been calling in to the EXP desk to attach the infant. I'd say it's less than 50% of the time that the lap child is actually attached. I don't know why. I usually get to the counter and the agent (pre-security) says there's no lap child attached. One time, I flew to the east coast with a lap child, but it wasn't annotated for the connection, so I had to hold up the whole boarding process in ORD for a few minutes while the GA took down the info for mini-FlyMeToTheLooneyBin. I even produced the LAX-ORD BP which very clearly showed lap child attached, but it wasn't for ORD-BOS.
Now, I just head to the counter each time to get my BP to avoid unnecessary delays later on. I have yet to take an international trip, but I'll be sure to leave lots of extra time for whatever dance we have to do.
