One thing to note about the new iPad models is that they support more LTE bands than any previous device, including iPhone 5S.

I'm somewhat annoyed at the price increase of the iPad Mini with Retina. But it looks like it would support all the LTE carriers in Europe and Asia as well as the ones in the US.

I was looking at the Nexus 7 LTE version but the ones sold in the US don't have LTE bands outside of the US. The European version of the Nexus 7 is 349 Euros so more like $500 than $350 for the US version.

Now, there aren't that many LTE prepaid data plans yet. Telecom Italia though does have LTE prepaid data so I may be tempted to go with the iPad Mini the next time I visit Italy.

My Huawei Mifi has worked out well for a couple of years but rather than get an LTE Mifi, I think a tablet may be the way to go. The first iPad Mini got over 20 hours in Hotspot mode according to some. And the prepaid data plans of European carriers apparently allow Hotspot tethering on unlocked iOS devices.
