Looking to book international travel with the SO for next year. I have 90k or so US miles and he has 90k or so Amex Points. Is the only logical way to each book our own ticket? The only transfer methods I have found have been shut down and weren't 1:1 (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/us-ai...5-ratio-2.html, http://thepointsguy.com/2012/08/how-...-decent-ratio/)

Also, if he transfers his miles to a *A airline is there a "best" option (in quotations because I know that can be subjective)?

Or is this plan a bad idea since it will be difficult to coordinate using miles from two different airlines?
