There is no waitlist for Gold certificate upgrades. If you haven't gotten them applied, you won't get upgraded (until the 72-hour window, that is). If space isn't available now, you need to keep checking (or use a service like LMOffice.com or ExpertFlyer to check) and then apply them (online or by phone) when space opens up.
On some flights, I see gold U. Not sure what's the difference between gold U and black U. I thought gold U is immediately upgrade. Black U is for qualifying fare to use gold guest upgrade, but no upgrade space.

I meant if I apply the gold guest upgrade 2 weeks prior. No U space release until after T-100. Would a 75k G get the upgrade before me?
