Our departure flight seems to be in L fare class, and our return flight is in H fare class.

Since H is a fare that allows complimentary MVP Gold upgrades...is there a way for us to get upgraded immediately (today?) as opposed to waiting for 72 hours prior to departure? Do I need to call the customer service desk, or is this something that can't be done 'retroactively'?

For what it's worth, I did go to my reservation this morning on the website, and clicked the link to request to be put on the first class wait list.

I appreciate any info.
If it allowed you to request the upgrade online, you should be on the correct waitlist (instant-upgrade on the qualifying fare)--if the system hadn't yet processed your MVPG status, then it wouldn't have given you that option, since MVPs can't waitlist with companions.

It might be worth calling to check, though. Yes, you should be able to upgrade instantly (assuming there's upgrade space available) on the H fare even though you were MVP when you booked it--you're MVPG now, and that's all that matters.
