It's not just Barcelona - the Iberia lounges at MAD have the same issue if I recall. I'm lucky to have an iPass account through work so I just use that to got onto most Wifis.
You may now pick up WiFi pass code from front desk agent... valid for 30min? each time... Just tested earlier this year...
