.... my first name and middle name have been transposed, and my first name (shown on the PNR as my middle name) is misspelled. I brought this to the attention of the tour operator, and this was their response:
"Please note our Air Department has advised the airlines to put a remark for your correct name in all the tickets. For your information – The correct name will NOT be displayed in the tickets but it will be updated in their system, hence it will not be a problem."
Ususally the format for the booking systems (Amadeus / Galileo / Sabre to name a few) is:
Code:
LastName / FirstName Title
or
LastName / FirstName MiddleName
At times the spaces are skipped and that creates issues as well, eg.: SMITH/JOHNMR
However, the tickets that are booked online onto the airline website or via the FFP account list the name in simple format: MR JOHN SMITH
So the transposition of names should not be a major problem, except that to claim the miles, you would have to either call / email the airline as the online system wouldn't be able to match the name.
Since, the TA has already put in a remark on the PNR, you should be fine. And may i suggest that you personally call up the airline and confirm if the remark has the correct spelling.
