But, the new system is kind of cool because it doesn't force us even bother with such elaborate routings. One segment at a time is very convenient for last minute trips. In fact, I often book tickets with Avios on the way to the airport now.
Well yes I agree, last month I was in HKG looking at cancelling a Y ticket to book the Avios J ticket I could see with about 90minutes to go before the flight. I chickened out as the CX staff in the wing made me worry that I wouldn't be able to book and ticket it in time...I guess it would have been ok....Marvellous flexibility in that respect

AA is particularly good I agree, having just blown all mine on a LAX-HKG F trip I am slowly building them again with a view to using for the more exotic routings. Especially interested in the Europe - South Pacific routes which are much cheaper than BA or QF
