Was not talking about the Garden Inn, but i see the 89 advance purchase price as well. I was talking about the (right next to it) Hilton, but the HGI looks pretty nice too.

Even if you are staying at the airport for convenience it's worth a trip on the S-Bahn if you haven't seen a German Christmas market before.
I think I will do that - Stay at the airport, but still maybe head down for dinner and see the area, then come back. I originally thought if I did that it would make more sense to be downtown, but there's no reason I can't just take the train there and back.
