Frankfurt is more than just the Messe. 22nd will be the last day of the Christmas market in Frankfut and I expect the area around the Römerberg to be very lively and crowded.

Even if you are staying at the airport for convenience it's worth a trip on the S-Bahn if you haven't seen a German Christmas market before.
