I have driven Miami to West Palm Beach dozens of times and even in rush hour you only really see huge amounts of traffic between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. If you are staying at one of the northernmost Starwood properties in Fort Lauderdale I'd say an hour is plenty unless it is raining.
