Also the passengers looked like a motely crew - women dressed in sweats, with stains down the front. Men that looked like beached whales in shorts. Seriously are Americans embarrassed by their condition of their carries and also of their fellow passengers?

HNL is a leisure destination with heavy competition. My guess is UA is going after the commodity fliers (rather than the ones who are willing to pay more for a nicer ride). No need to waste one of your nice aircraft on that route with that strategy.
