I have already called the hotel directly on this. I have an old 145k point AXON stay over New Years as well. They told me the ONLY way to secure an upgrade is to buy the Ball Drop package which is $8000 for NYE night. I found this quite laughable. I'm sure they will change their tune as the date draws closer.
Who knows maybe people do spend that kind of cash. I'd rather take my 8k elsewhere on NYE like to a warm beach or Four Seasons or something.
I was actually pretty much expecting this as I know they actually have contracts with people for certain types of rooms for New Years Eve. They might discount it a bit as it draws near but there are only so many rooms with that view so they can charge a ridiculous premium.
