Yes, EK fares out of DXB smack of UAE residents subsidising everyone else, but what to do?
Depends where in DXB you live - from the Marina area DXB and AUH are close to the same travel time.
You could for instance fly OW - BA/ RJ west, UL/ CX east - yes EK has a better/ more consistent long haul product on all routes and better frequencies but depending on one's travel patterns it isn't impossible to avoid EK.
