I will say it depends on how many people are in your group and how old are they? What time is your flight exactly?
Since you will be almost the first to take the train (assuming NRT T1), I will say luggage is not an issue. People are used to that just be considerable (i.e. don't block people/seats or cause any inconvenience). You can either hold it in front of you or put it next to the door (remember to lay down so that it won't roll

).
Well thank you! That was quick. I'm curious how you found the blog, I thought I did a thorough google search.
So it IS a normal commuter train. We have youngish kids but they're very seasoned travellers :P
I haven't booked my connecting flight yet, but I land at 0830H. By the time we hit the train it will prob be 0930H, so the trains we will take are probably the 1004 or the 1044.
Yep, since the train seems to originate from T1 that would at least give us a change to grab a corner seat and put a heavy bag at the door, and the light ones on the overhead - we have one just for coats so that shouldn't be too heavy. Definitely do-able.
Then again, I don't fancy sitting for an hour and a half facing inwards. As the blog says, it can't compare to the N'EX in terms of comfort. Hmmm will have to think this through again.
I suppose leaving NRT at 0930+ will allow us to miss most of the morning rush hour? We're landing on a Tuesday. Maybe in the end the bus still is the better option.
Last question: the "express" ones that eventually end in HND, do they require a change at Aoto or are they truly direct?
Thanks!
