Going through the pages of this thread, it seems like once the hotel re-opened as a St. Regis, reviews were decidedly mixed.... but can anyone comment on whether things have improved? Reviews on the typical internet sites seem be outstanding, although I trust FT reviews a whole lot more.

I like the St. Regis a lot, the accomodations are unreal. That said, I tend to use full points and it is a question of 30,000 at the St Regis for a standard room vs the 12,000 at the Diplomat and with that I am likely to choose the latter in the future. A bathroom the size of most people's kitchens (St Regis) while outstanding is just not worth 18,000 more points per night.
