I was able to immediately go online with AA and pre-reserve ^ my CHOICE ^ of meals on each AA leg. From Vegas I will be enjoying a chicken curry wrap with chilled couscous salad instead of the lemongrass salmon with mixed greens. Then out of Dallas I chose the breast of chicken stuffed with spinach and cheese, complemented by emmental potatoes au gratin and buttered haricots verts over the sacchetti pasta with alfredo sauce and sundried tomato coulis.

Unfortunately on my first class breakfast flight out of Seattle on AS I have NO IDEA what, if anything, I'll be having and forget about a choice or pre-ordering. How is it that AA can serve meals AND offer choices in F on shorter duration flights like these and AS can't. Even a 3-1/2 hour flight from SEA to ANC on AS won't get you a choice or anything as nice as what AA is serving on these short hops.

Some may say that this is why AA is in bankruptcy, I'd like to think that this is their way out of it. Because if they ever came into the market that is 90% of my travel, I would status match and be all over them like white on rice.
So I just did the 3 flights in 1 day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Started on AS at 6:00am SEA-LAS with huevos rancheros and black beans. The strawberry was mushy, the eggs watery. The beans were ok once you used all of the salsa on them. My wife didn't eat them at all. The plain tortilla was tasty and I didn't have to ask for salt and pepper.

The second flight was on AA from LAS to DFW. Lunch was warm nuts then chicken curry wrap with couscous followed up by a warm chocolate chip cookie. Pretty nice for a 2-1/2 hour flight. AND I got to preorder my meal online.

But the remarkable flight was dinner. On AA again from DFW to TPA, scheduled for 2hr 20min, actual duration was only 1hr 58min yet AA does this.... start with drinks and warm nuts, then a nice sized salad, chicken stuffed was cheese and spinach, green beans, potato cake, a warm roll and copious quantities of wine. AND they still managed to serve warm chocolate chip cookies afterwards. It was absolutely delicious. For a 2 hour flight!!!! I can't get a meal like that on a 3-1/2 SEA-ANC flight. And again, we were able to preorder our meals online.

Looking forward to flying AA F again next week back to SEA. Already ordered my meals ^

AS could learn a thing or 2 here.
