IIRC and it's a big if the t&c's used to say only "activity" on your account had to happen to keep it live.....any activity. Since Avios came along the t&c's changed to "earning activity" and transfers between avios.com and BAEC would not count.
If that is the case and I could be wrong then I think the OP is somewhat justified in claiming that because the t&c's changed sometime during the last 3 years it was easy to assume that a transfer of Avios would count as activity.
Even if there was previously such a rule, it would be irrelevent; what matters is the rules that are in effect at the time of the activity taking place. At the time of doing the transfer last year, it didn't count as eligable to reset time, then c'est la vie
In the v unlikely situation tat it extended the term at time of transfer and then BA changed the terms and then applied it retrospectively on transfers before that date, then that would be different
