Yes, Really.
There is NO WAY AwardWallet can distinguish the eligibility of the activities on your account.
Not all hotel programs count non-stay activities qualified. Up until barely a year ago SPG ONLY counted Stays as eligible to renew your account.
HHonor also does not count all activities as eligible. Just off the top of my head.
So be warned.
As many others pointed out already, relying on a 3rd party to keep you on top of things is a foolish act and can carry a heavy penalty as OP has learned.
