The medics who help in flight normally do it as a good samaritan act! Think most insrance policies should cover travel too and from your destination. I wouldn't have thought airlines charge individual passengers either for a diversion; would that be in the airline insurance?
Being uninsured and have a need to be repatriated normally costs several 10s of thousands of pounds
