My experience flying both carriers relates to primarily GCC and a long haul to Sweden from either Doha or Dubai. The First class within GCC on most QR flights is a joke compared to EK. EK flies bigger aircrafts generally an advantage as well as a disadvantage. When the doors are about to close on any EK flight I am just waiting to hear: -Sorry but we have to unload bags due to that two passengers never showed up, causing a delay on 30-45 minutes. This never happens on QR. Since I fly to Sweden 6-8 times a month I fly the 787 and I love that aircraft so whenever you have the chance to fly the 787 I suggest you go for that carrier. I find the service better on QR than EK but it is subjective. ONE thing EK can never beat is the Premium terminal, the first class lounge and even the business class beats the hell out of ALL EK lounges regardless First or Business.
