Out of interest, I was on an EK flight last month when an 'electrical fault' caused the skipper to pull the CB (or CBs) for the seats and IFE.
The crew manually reset 15 seats from flat to upright and another guy and I helped them with a couple more seats that were stiff, as it was a female team and sometimes some brute force is required that only a 15st male can provide.
Once I learned how to reset my seat, the crew were then relaxed about me altering it manually (only needs two catches releasing) and I had it in the Z position and then fully upright for landing - no one had to sit in Y, although please note this is not a snide side swipe at BA, as the CW seats may be much harder to reset than the EK J seats.
