Maybe things aren't done perfectly after an onboard emergency because there is no perfect option. Perhaps they were doing the best they could in the circumstances.
what, while stood around idle with their hands behind their backs? That's the aspect that disappointed me most. Only one crew member was doing anything proactive to help. There was no excuse for not knowing which seats were actually free. That could have been found out by one member of crew with a pen and a piece of paper.
Being told, "Dunno, perhaps that one's free" is a far from a satisfactory answer. It wasn't these staff members were busy, they were just stood there watching us struggle. I was told this three times until I found one that appeared to be free. I did get a strange look from a non english speaking woman when she returned from the bathroom.
This was the opportunity for WW CSD to show his mettle and lead from the front. He simply disappeared. It felt to me that there was a universal shrug of shoulders from the crew. I repeat that this was hours after the incident itself, and I was told the fault would be very simply solved at LHR.
