Absolutely agree. When I was in my 20's, I probably would have opted for the $1500. But in my business, people in their 20's are not usually the ones being asked to travel internationally. If I sat all night in an economy seat nowadays, I would be tired and there is a good chance my back would hurt. With jet lag, that would cut into my ability to meet and work with people, which is the whole point of going. Even so, I usually try to schedule meetings for Mondays, and fly overnight Friday night to have an opportunity to get on local time.
Also, every really bad experience I've had with other passengers that made me miserable and ruined my mood for a day or two (obnoxious drunks, asking me not to recline on an overnight 8 hour flight, bad smell (poor guy appeared to have been traveling for days without a bath)) has happened in international coach. The worst thing that has ever happened to me in business or first was a broken inflight entertainment system on KLM once.
