Tubroprops use Jet turbine engines.
Q400 have a very high fuel burn and I understand that was a major reason why NZ and VA went with the ATR72-600, fuel burn, speed, distance thing favours the ATR.
Unfortunately there are not that many, if any 717 left to buy in the second hand market, I think QF got some of the last available. Good new is that they will be around for decades, if not for RPT operations but doing FIFO work in Australia etc.
